Running sudo apt-get install clang installs version 3.8. To install latest version (currently 6.0) run: sudo apt-get update downloads the latest list of packages from all servers, including the one we just added. For security, packages are signed with private keys. You need public key to verify package signature. If there is a previous version installed, the installer provides an option to uninstall it. Currently, the package includes clang, clang-format, lld, and the AddressSanitizer runtime from compiler-rt.
